Batam Island, located in Sumatra and also forming one of the most progressive islands of the Riau Archipelago, is known as a haven for shopping addicts. Renowned as a free trade zone area, the Island has lots of duty-free and tax-free merchandise. It is crawling with modern shopping complexes selling all kinds of stuff for a bargain price, and entertainment venues designed to make anyone enjoy their time in the island. One such venue that is one of the most popular destinations not just of tourists but locals alike is the Ocarina Park.
Occupying a land of over 40 hectares, the Ocarina Waterpark or the Kawasan Wisata Ocarina is an entertainment park boasting of rides, waterpark and 3D movie theater that’s ideal for the whole family. It is located in Teluk Kerang near the Coastarina and the Batam Center Ferry Terminal.
The Ocarina Park first opened its doors to the public three days after the Christmas of 2008. The opening was said to be one of the highlights of the year. A year later, on 13th of December 2009, the waterpark attraction was added to the place, which many claimed made the park the total destination for the whole family. The three-dimensional movie house also made the park a favorite hangout for the young.
Inside the complex, several rides can be found. There are old, classic carnival rides like Ferris wheel, as well as modern fun rides. The most popular ride was the Ferris wheel. Standing to a height of 25 meters above the sea level and stretching to a diameter of 35 meters, the huge Ferris wheel is popular not just with kids but with adults as well.
However, what attracts most people to the place is said to be the collection of fun water games in its water park and the chance to watch 3D movies in the 3D theater.
The Water Park spans a total land area of 1.5 hectares with a pond measuring 3000 meters located inside. Inside, guests can enjoy a variety of water games like Massage Chair, Nozzle, Lange-Fountain, Nozzle-Fountain, Arc, Floating Lotus Leaf, Bath Show, Bridge, Fountain, Barrel of Pouring Water, Rainbow Slide, Slide for Famil Bar, Water Gun, Slide Hill Creep and many others.
But the fun will apparently not end there, as there are future developments lined up for the park. The owner of the park, during one of his interviews, said they were also planning to add a 3000-seater convention hall as well as a condominium-hotel property in the place. Indeed, when you get to the park, you’ll notice that the whole place is a work in progress. You’ve no need to worry though, for food and refreshments as there currently are restaurants already operating in the park. There are also shuttle buses ready to take you inside the park if you don’t have transportation with you.
What all of this means is that if you want a different kind of entertainment in Batam, a place where both kids and adults can enjoy, you might want to try a visit to the Ocarina Park. It’s perfect for the whole family with the diversity in its offerings.
