Brunei is many things to many people. It offers different types of tour packages that cater to a wide variety of needs and tourism products. For those who love nature, Wasai Kandal is a wise and interesting destination choice.

Beautiful waterfalls in Wasai Kandal

Set inside a beautiful and lust forest area, Wasai Kandal offers the best that Nature can offer. It has waterfalls and natural pools. Around the area are pools, ponds, picnic areas and a wide path that runs through it. The two popular waterfalls found in the area are Air Terjun Tinggi and Air Terjun Rendah, which is the lower of the two and found only at 360 meters from the main road.

Visitors to this site can enjoy an uninterrupted leisurely walk through the jungle for a whole hour. In addition to the wide path, there are also bridges, handrails and steps for all the guests to enjoy. Not many jungles and forests in Southeast Asia offer this kind of attraction and ability to walk around unharmed.

Other than the trail and waterfalls, Wasai Kandal also attracts tourists with Tasek Laboi, a small lake found not far from the waterfalls. The lake is so tranquil and its waters are dark. It is found hidden among tall trees. Another nearby lake with a small waterfall is the Wassai Lumut Lumpan. Nearby is a smaller pool called Wasai Dang Umai and deeper into the forest is the largest pool in the area.

For tourists who can’t seem to get enough of tall trees, lush forests and interesting ecosystem, Brunei has three verdant rainforest reserves and national parks in the district of Temburong at the easternmost part of the country. These three famous parks are the Ulu Temburong National Park, Peradayan Forest Reserve and Labu Forest Reserve.

Meanwhile, for a tour package that focuses on religion and culture, Brunei has the best, most lavish and most expensive mosques and palaces in Southeast Asia. Perhaps one of the most beautiful mosques in the world is Brunei’s Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque. Its glimmering domes and towers are made from pure gold. The biggest mosque in the country, however, is the Jame’ Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Mosque.

Brunei is also the home of the world’s largest residential palace and single family residence. The sultan’s palace is called Istana Nurul Iman, which means “Palace of the Light of Faith”. Its more than a thousand rooms and a garage that can hold more than a hundred cars are occupied by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah and the Royal Family. The palace also has 257 bathrooms, five swimming pools, 18 elevators and a mosque, among other features. Sadly, this amazing structure cannot be counted as truly a tourist attraction because it is accessible by the public for only one day in a year.

These amazing structures and architectural wonders are found in the heart of Brunei’s capital city, Bandar Seri Begawan. Tourist do not need to go far to enjoy the type of tourism that is unique to this amazing country.  Wasai Kandal is only a few kilometers from Bandar Seri Begawan in Mukim Kilanas.
