Papua New Guinea

Papua New Guinea

The exotic jungles and waters of Papua New Guinea are straight out of an adventurer’s dream. Situated in the Southwestern Pacific, this island sports the tropical warmth and fertile Melanesian soils necessary for the lush one may find abounding on it, boasting gorgeous trails and mountains that will make many a landlubbing explorer fall in love. In Papua New Guinea, you can discover a world where it is again possible to get away from modernity and civilization simply by taking a trail through the trees and following it as it meanders its way around the valleys and hills of the area.

Not to say that the civilization of the area is not alluring in itself, however: Papua New Guinea’s many tribes have some of the most fascinating cultures and will be a treat for you to visit and get to know. You can head to New Britain to see the famous Firedances, for instance, or the villages of Tari Basin for tourist shows from locals. Or you could see the intriguing courtship rituals at the Kiriwina Islands, which were formerly known as the Trobriands.

But if you truly want to experience the full beauty of the experience Papua New Guinea has to offer, you should explore not only the land but the waters. Papua New Guinea offers some stellar diving opportunities around Bougainville and other areas, and the fishing is not half-bad either. Mahi mahi, mackerel, yellowfin tuna, and the almost ludicrously powerful black bass may all be found here, and many anglers come to the country regularly to enjoy the fishing. Nature-lovers can also do birdwatching as well as flightseeing (flight tours), among other things. Papua New Guinea, it is clear, can provide quite a lot of entertainment to you if you know where to look, and if you appreciate a rawer, less aggressively modernized beauty than may be found in our urban clutter.
