Five Reasons Why Fort Bonifacio Taguig is One of the Hippest Places in Metro Manila Today

Fort Bonifacio is the latest and hippest gig in Metro Manila these days. Also referred to as Bonifacio Global City, Global City or The Fort, Fort Bonifacio Taguig has nearly surpassed Makati as the prime destination for business, shopping, and entertainment.  For those who wonder, the Global City is gaining tremendous popularity for the following reasons:

First, it has successfully converted a dull and barren area into something exciting, modern and fun. This area in Taguig City used to be a humble army camp called the Fort Andres Bonifacio camp. It was a wide open area used by soldiers for running and military exercises. Taguig City was also not known as a city of commerce or entertainment back then.

In 1995, the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) allowed the sale of Fort Andres Bonifacio and immediately Bonifacio Land Development Corporation began constructing a modern city — the Bonifacio Global City.  Thus what used to be an undeveloped piece of land has become a rich district with skyscrapers, modern infrastructure and state-of-the-art facilities in less than a decade.

Second, people flock to the Global City to shop, stroll and spend quality family time at metro Manila’s newest shopping centers and retail outlets. The star of the show is Ayala Land’s newest department store named “Market! Market!” It is a huge complex that houses a number of popular clothes shops, food places, and cinemas.

As any other Ayala department store, Market! Market! includes trees, foliage, fountains and a playground in its mall design and layout. Also unlike other leading department stores in Metro Manila, an integral part of Market! Market! would be its open-air fruit stands, vegetable stalls, and a wet market.

Third, people flock to the Global City to dine and dance at the country’s trendiest restaurants, bars, and clubs. The Fort is as alive at night as it is throughout the day.

The most popular hang-out spot for night birds is the Embassy Bar and Restaurant, considered the top club in Manila.

Every night it is packed with the rich and famous, including popular TV personalities and movie stars.

Fourth, many affluent Filipinos have decided to make Global City their home. A row of upscale residential condominiums at the Fort includes Essensa, Serendra, and Regent Parkway. Condominium living is a growing trend in the country and so far the most modern and beautiful ones are in Fort Bonifacio.

Fifth, for people who take business more seriously than pleasure, the Fort is now home to a number of leading international business outfits, such as Accenture, The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, Fujitsu, Deutsche Bank, Hewlett-Packard, and JPMorgan, to name a few.

To put it simply, the Fort Global City is amazing to see and an experience to visit. All the buildings and facilities are of modern designs. The latest addition is the new 16-storey St. Luke’s Medical Center, which is now easily the most important hospital in the country.

Soon to contribute in the continuing development of Fort Bonifacio Taguig are the Shangri-la Hotel Group, SM Malls and Northshore Holdings, which is preparing to build the Taguig Coliseum and Convention Center. It’s been said that the center will include a hotel, apartments, and a shopping center. Also, soon to rise in the Fort is the Federal Land Tower that is set to be one of the tallest buildings in the country.
