Diving in Krabi takes place all year round; however, the best time for diving is during November to April. It is because from late May to October, monsoon winds cause reduced diving visibility at the dive sites, aside from the frequent cancelled trips due to bad weather. If you are interested in diving during May to October, you can check out Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand, which has better weather conditions during these months.

Experience diving in Krabi

Krabi offers plenty of opportunities to explore its rich marine and aquatic life, particularly in Phi Phi Island, making the area unique. The limestone cliffs that stand mightily out of the Andaman Sea are also an amazing site to dip down underwater. With these opportunities, snorkeling and scuba diving in Krabi shouldn’t be missed.

Starting from Ao Nang and Railay to the stunning islands on the Andaman Sea, there are so many worth-checking-out dive sites in Krabi. The Ao Nang Islands are made up of nine limestone islands which have impressive marine life and rich coral reefs, underwater caves and tunnels to explore. Common aquatic species here include Pipefish, Frog fish, Mantis Shrimp, Sea horse and even sharks such as the Bamboo sharks and the Black Tip Reef sharks.

Phi Phi Islands also tops the list in terms of excellent diving destinations. You can witness sea floors covered with mushroom corals, soft corals and sea fans. The huge coral reef field in the islands is also the home of some exotic species such as snappers, fusiliers, etc. Big fish are also present, like Yellow Tail Barracudas, Leopard Sharks and Black Tip Reef Sharks. In 1997, the huge King Cruiser sank when heading to Phi Phi Island. The 85-meter ship rests in the sea floor with 32 to 14 meters depth.

The sunken ship turned out as a stunning artificial reef and became a sanctuary for interesting aquatic species such as Lion fish, Scorpion Fish, Big Eye Trevally and White Eyed Moray Eels.

Diving in Krabi can be an unforgettable experience with its several world-class dive sites such as the Shark Point and Anemone Reef. These sites are home to some of the best aquatic and coral life in Thailand. In Shark Point, the main attractions are the Leopard sharks and the huge variety of corals. On the other hand, the Anemone Reef comprises a limestone pinnacle, soaring right from the seafloor up to the surface and is filled with anemones and surrounded by clownfish. The dive site is often visited by different marine life such as Giant Barracuda, Hawksbill Turtle and Squid.

For people who want to book a diving trip, a diving course, snorkeling or even a dive package, there are plenty of tour offices offering these types of services. Diving in Krabi is truly harmless and congenial, particularly for first-time divers due to the clear, gentle water free from huge waves, the absence of which is conducive for learning fast. There are plenty of dive sites you can choose from so better research before choosing where to go. However, one thing is for sure: you’ll never regret the fun and experience in Krabi diving.
