Although not for anyone who has a fear of heights, the Macau Tower, which is also called the Macau Sky Tower, presents the best bird’s-eye view of the city. Inspired by a vision based on the Sky Tower in Auckland, Macau casino billionaire Stanley Ho was impressed by the Auckland sky-rise with a visit to the city of New Zealand. Upon returning home, he was commissioned to build a comparable tower in his own city, Macau.

Breathtaking Macau Tower

Construction started in 1998 and it was officially opened by 2001. Its design is similar to Las Vegas, Nevada’s Stratosphere Tower. The tower measures at 1,109 feet or 338 meters in height from its ground level to the highest point of the tower. The journey to experience the Macau Tower begins at the moment visitors enter the lift lobby, Glass fronted elevators are in place so guests wouldn’t miss a moment of the spectacle view all the way up to the top in their high speed lifts.

Visitors will be able to go to the top of the tower and to its Observation Deck to see stunning panoramic views of the city. Sections of the Observation Lounge are fitted with glass floors allowing guests to see the ground beneath their feet about 223 meters away.

Visitors are often seen challenging each other on who will be brave enough to step on the glass floor to feel like being able to walk on air. Additionally, there are restaurants, shopping malls, theaters and exciting activities that will test the bravery level of every visitor. Here are some of the Macau Tower Adventures:

  1. Bungee Jump – As the World’s Highest Bungee Jump, visitors will be taken on a free fall at speeds of up to 200 km/h for the ultimate extreme experience. Be part of the Guinness World Record and boast to everyone that you have what it takes.
  2. Sky Jump – At 223 meters high, the tower’s sky jump from the outside rim is the highest in the world. Guests will be taken on a 20 second flight over the cityscape of Macau. Based on a technology used in skydiving and stunt falls, the Skyjump lets guests fly through air at 75 km/h in 20 seconds before decelerating to a steady speed upon reaching the ground.

  3. Skywalk X – Don’t miss out on the Skywalk X, which is an exhilarating but steady walking tour around the outside rim of the tower without any handrail. Safety is guaranteed by a world-class overhead rail system.
  4. Mast Climb the Macau Tower – Some people dare to mount Macau’s premier summit by climbing about 100 meters up the tower’s vertical ladders. Both ascent to and descent from the tower take about 2 hours and is definitely not for the unfit or faint-hearted.

Aside from observation, entertainment and recreational purposes, the tower is also used for broadcasting and telecommunications. Be sure not to miss the eighth highest tower in Asia and tenth highest in the world. Either to check out a Macau view like no other or to dare to experience any of the thrilling adventures, experience the Macau Tower first-hand and boast of your achievements.
