Children City is Dubai’s first educational municipality, especially built for kids between two to fifteen years old. Opened in 2002, it consists of about 83,000 square feet of educational facilities in Creek Park, one of the largest child-dedicated recreational areas in Dubai. It provides interactive activities and inventive exhibits to let children explore and learn about biology, nature, science, culture, and astronomy.
This interactive science museum consists of 12 state of the art exhibits and interactive activity areas, including the Computers and Communication exhibit, the Planetarium, the Nature Centre, Discovery Space, and the Space Exploration exhibit. Each area offers magical experiences for children of all ages. With flight simulators and different workshops and events all year round, Children’s City never runs out of ways to let visitors create new memories with each visit.
The Nature Center is a good way to let children experience Dubai- even when the weather gets too hot. Thanks to the land and sea exhibits, little children can experience how the desert sands and sea feels like to the touch.
The Discovery Space is the place for kids to discover things using their own bodies. This exhibit features activities where kids can explore how different body parts work, as well as how they really look like. The Discovery Space is also where children learn about the simple mysteries of physics- such as why a pencil looks bent in a glass of water, or why rainbows appear after the rain.
Kids can also try recycling or joining a factory line in the museum’s Play Space. Apart from the can crusher, it also has a mini construction site and activity areas for shadow play and water experiments. The Play Space is especially designed to allow plenty of interaction among the kids in the area.
The museum also features a Toddler’s Area, a special play area for children under five years old. Children can play with sand, water toys, and musical instruments. The Toddler’s Area also has a special playhouse and interactive walkways for little children who may not appreciate the wonders of the museum as much as the big kids would.
The Space Exploration exhibit lets kids experience how it is to become an astronaut for a day. It also has interactive activities and displays that let children discover how airplanes fly, how the day turns into night, or what space rocks look like. The Space Exploration also let visitors experience the strength of a tornado inside an artificial capsule.
The Planetarium is one of the most popular programs in the museum- not only among children, but with the whole family as well. It features educational dome shows about the stars and other heavenly bodies.
After a day of fun-filled exploration, playing, and learning, kids can further improve their knowledge about their new discoveries in the museum’s Resource Center. The Resource Center is a comprehensive and interactive library with hundreds of books, software, and resource materials. Moreover, kids can also join special workshops, fairs, and competitions to improve their knowledge and skills. The educational city offers summer workshops, camps and other special activities in the Theatre every year.
Children’s City is 7,700 square meters of pure science fun for kids and kids at heart. It strives to help kids become more creative and more competent through innovative learning methods and world-class facilities.
