Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia: Let’s Begin!
Where do you begin in Kuala Lumpur? There are just too many to talk about in this amazing city, too many places to see, too many fun activities to try out and too many local delicacies to sample.
Before delving into the popular tourist attractions found in Kuala Lumpur, perhaps it makes sense to begin by taking a quick tour of the city’s beginnings. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was founded in 1857 when the country was under British influence. It was named the capital city in 1880 because Kuala Lumpur (KL) was the most peaceful, orderly, and economically successful among all of Malaysia’s cities back then. It’s amazing to realize that this is still true today.
Today, Kuala Lumpur is one of the wealthiest and most orderly cities in the country, and in all of Asia. It is teeming with skyscrapers and modern establishments. For some time, the city boasted of having the world’s tallest building, the Petronas Towers. There are only a few cities in the world that have buildings that can compete with the grandness of the Petronas Towers.
It is easier to tour the city by taking note of these three categories: colonial buildings, religious establishments, and natural parks. To marvel at the city’s unique architecture, you shouldn’t miss the Merdeka Square, the Railway Station, and the Royal Museum, among others. If you want to immerse yourself in a spiritual expedition, visit theThean Hou Temple. If you simply want to enjoy nature, lose yourself in the Batu Caves and the Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens.
From its history to its landmarks, it’s time to take a break after going around and checking out so many tourist spots. What better way to relax in Kuala Lumpur than to go shopping and hit the night-life strips? The most crowded areas during the day are Bintang Walk, Jalan Ampang, and the Bangsar shopping centers.
But as night falls, the crowd moves to Golden Triangle, Bangsat and Changkat, the three most popular places for night owls and partygoers.
Now, how and where to end your tour in Kuala Lumpur? Well, there is really no end to what the city has to offer.
