KL Bird Park in Kuala Lumpur

December 27, 2013 By //  by Sarah Cruz Leave a Comment

  1. It is reputed to be the largest walk-in aviary park in the world. With an area of 21 acres, 3000 birds of 200 different local and foreign species, the KL Birdpark has been said to be the largest bird park in the world. It’s a huge park with lots of birds roaming freely.
  2. Experience an encounter with peacocks. There are plenty of peacocks wandering around. Their brilliantly colored fan-shaped tail feathers will definitely catch your interest. Be floored and be impressed with their colorful tails. It’s great for photographs too!

  3. See the birds feeding on fruits, meats, herbs and vegetables. There are feeding sessions several times daily, so you’ll have the wonderful opportunity of observing them while eating. You can even feed them yourself!

Watching them feast on different kinds of food can also be very educational and not just entertaining. You may even find it the highlight of your visit.
  4. Eagles. If you haven’t seen an eagle yet, now is the time to see them up-close. Some species of eagles are endangered in other countries, and in KL Birdpark the eagles are very few.

It would be good to see and observe them now before they are lost in time forever.
  5. Colorful parrots. There are many parrots of interesting colors in the park. And as with all other birds in the park, some are shy of humans and will fly away at the first sight of one, but others will gamely pose for pictures. Approach gently and you won’t be disappointed.
  6. Storks. Storks along with other exotic birds can be found in the park. And although most of the storks do not have bright colors, they still can arouse curiosity from visitors, with their long legs often wading through the man-made water lake of the park and with their characteristic beaks and shapes.
  7. Enjoy watching the fishpond with its numerous fishes. While you’re in the park, you could also delight in watching the many fish of the park’s pond as they swim through the waters.

Throw some bread bits and watch them make a go for it. Together, they do look wonderful and make for a good photo as well.
  8. Interact freely with the birds. Although some of the birds are in a netted cage, most are roaming around where you can catch a chance to interact closely with them.
  9. Bird shows. The Kuala Lumpur Birdpark also holds bird shows daily. If you want to catch the trained birds doing tricks, head on to the park in the early afternoon or mid-afternoon when bird shows are being shown.
  10. It’s a great way to spend your afternoon. An afternoon spent in KL Birdpark is an afternoon spent wisely. If you’re traveling with kids, it’s definitely a must-visit. If the adult visitors find the park entertaining, so will the kids! You’ll find that there are picnic areas where you can spend a leisurely afternoon with your family as well. In addition, there are playgrounds where your kids can play. It’s truly perfect for families, so do bring the kids.  They will love it!
