Visiting the Long-Stretch of the Bei Bin Park and Nanbin Park in Hualien

July 7, 2017 By Sarah Cruz Leave a Comment

Hualien is found between the Central Mountain Range of Taiwan and the Pacific Ocean making it nestled between two equally majestic and gigantic attractions of nature. This is also the reason why Hualien is one of the most pleasant and picturesque cities in Taiwan. With its lush vegetation and tranquil view of the Pacific Ocean, the Bei Bin Park and Nanbin Park in Hualien is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular places to visit in the county.

Bei Bin Park in Hualien

The Bei Bin Park, also known as the North Shore Park, is found on the northeastern corner of the city of Hualien and is situated between the Mei Lun River and the Hualien harbor. The Sea Walk Boulevard offers tourists a wide open view of the Pacific Ocean, something not often seen anywhere else in the world. Furthermore, the Coastal Range is seen rising above the sea while the entire street is filled with touches of white ginger flowers. One thing that many visitors notice very quickly is the unique white spray continuously created by the ocean waves.

The park is a great place where many locals hang out, go fishing, collect sea shells, or just stroll along the beach and are mesmerized by the bright blue sky. It’s a park most frequented by family and friends where pleasant picnics are done. It can also be a romantic place for couples to have a peaceful walk together during the early morning sunrise.

Naturally, if there is a North Shore Park, there is a South Shore Park, which is also known as the Nanbin Park. Plenty of bikers start their route from the Nanbin Park in Hualien to the Hualien Harbor all the way up to Chishingtan. It’s a favorite 21-kilometer biker’s route not only because of its paved roads but also because of the scenic surroundings it provides. Bikers even have the option to ride between the North Shore Park and South Shore Park.

However, what makes Nanbin Park so popular is not just its scenic views but also the Nanbin Night Market. The Nanbin Night Market is found within the 20 hectare vicinity of the Nanbin Park and is the largest and one of the most popular markets not only in the East Coast but in Taiwan as well.

Being so close to the ocean, it’s only natural for the Nanbin Night Market to have seafood as its specialty. Locals and tourists can indulge in the freshest seafood around town as well as dried and packed seafood items. In addition, the night market is home to a variety of traditional folklore games to keep their visitors busy such as aboriginal-style archery, water bombs and shooting ball machines. It then makes Nanbin Park a must-see leisure tourist stop not only for its magnificent ocean views that can be seen during the day, but also for its wide variety of local specialties and folklore games by night.

The Bei Bin Park and Nanbin Park are two well-developed areas in the East coast region that take advantage of the beautiful coastal scenery that Hualien possesses. Here is indeed a place where the natural beauty of the environment stands out the most.
