‘Telepherique’ is French for cable car, aerial tramway or gondola lift. In Japan, they call it ropeway. This form of transport is common in the Alpine regions of Europe where people regularly move from peak to peak. It’s scary if you’re riding a telepherique for the first time, but after a ride or two, you would wish there’s a gondola lift in every city you visit in the world.
