In the more southern parts of the Punjab is a very old city that yet manages to remain a commercially and industrially significant hub of activity for Pakistan. It is a large city too. If the size of cities were to be measured purely by the total area within their boundaries, Multan would be third in the list of Pakistan’s biggest cities. It is a place of great agriculture and fields of oil seeds as well as fruit orchards, of minerals and mines, of ancient religious structures, and of superb handicrafts. It is a place of interest to the Punjab-located traveller, in other words.
