Located near the city of Khobar in Saudi Arabia, Half Moon Bay is known for its semi-lunar shaped beach and fun water activities like Groupler fishing, sailing, and snorkelling. It has been a popular tourist attraction for more than 80 years because of its water depth that ranges from 15 feet to 30 feet, which can effectively accommodate various water activities from simple swimming to diving. The beach is located 500 km west of Highway 1 at Kelley Avenue. You can get there by riding a taxi or driving a rented car.
The Half Moon Bay is originally known as Doha Dhalum in 1900. Arab traders sailing on the Persian Gulf area use the beach whenever they need to stop due to bad weather or get some fresh water from artisan wells. They also stop here to load up some salt which they trade to other countries such as India and Africa for skins. Today, the area at the center of the western shore is an ongoing housing development.
