Hualien is the capital city of a county in Taiwan with the same name. It is the biggest city in the east coast region that has about 110,000 inhabitants. The city is located at 23°58’20′N, 121°36’23′E, making it not too far of a destination from Taiwan’s capital city, Taipei. It then makes getting to Hualien easy either by plane, bus or train.
There are no international flights that go directly to Hualien so visitors coming from abroad would need to make a stopover at Taipei before getting to Hualien by air. Mandarin Airlines, Transasia Airways and Far Eastern Air Transport all have flights going to the Hualien Airport coming from Taipei, Kaohsiung, Taichung and another major cities in Taiwan.
