The Port of Eilat lies on the northern edge of the Red Sea and makes up the southern gate of Israel. As an alternative transportation course to Suez Canal, the port is also used as a continental gate between Asia and Europe, the Far East and Australia. The Israel government announced Eilat Port as a ‘national strategic asset and an important enterprise to Eilat City’. Today, Eilat Port has become an activity center for the fields of shipping, commerce, leisure and other businesses.
The Port of Eilat offers their customers a wide range of services. These include tying and docking services; storage, loading and unloading cargo; infrastructure and quality service for passenger ships; unique storage facilities, bulk storage, staircases for vehicle storage etc. The Port of Eilat also offer rental of office space in buildings and in harbor. Other buildings are leased to companies and government offices that keep ongoing work at the port.

In addition, the impressive Red Sea International Classical Music Festival, conducted by Maestro Valery Gergiev and his orchestra from St. Petersburg, takes place every year in the Eilat Port’s hangar harbor. This festival, in cooperation with the Tourism Authority, attracts visitors from around the world.
The Eilat Port promotes environmental preservation by investing on different equipments and facilities in order to help the environment and the bay. New strict work policies were set for this need. In addition, environmental awareness information is explained on employees.
For its operational work, Eilat Port put considerable resources to protect the environment, preserve the natural resources and prevent pollution in the Gulf of Eilat. They invested millions to build ecosystems intended to prevent leakage of potash and phosphate exported from the port. The storage warehouses where huge cargoes are stored were completely sealed, and they purchased smart loader and vacuum cleaners to prevent pollution. Furthermore, they developed four air-monitoring stations that will monitor concentration of dust particles in the air.
Besides creating environmental ecosystems, the Port of Eilat is an active volunteer in the protection of coral reefs. The coral reefs and waters in the port are varied and rich and hence, preservation and protection is of great importance. The port proactively participates in cleaning the underwater and harbor beach, with the help of volunteers and nature organizations.
