Everybody knows Fiji and that there’s an amazing vacation spot somewhere by that name, but not everybody knows where Fiji is located exactly. Some even mistake it as part of Japan; Mt. Fuji, anyone? Getting to Fiji from the US means a plane ride pass Hawaii and 2/3 along the way going to New Zealand. It is a 10 ½ hours flight from Los Angeles; New Zealand and Australia are 3-4 hours away; tourists from London fly for 27 long hours! These are long and tiresome trips, but those who’ve been to Fiji know that vacationing here is worth all the trouble of that trip.
Getting to Fiji by air is the cheapest and most common way. From the US, there are three airlines that fly direct from Los Angeles to the Nadi International Airport in Fiji. They are Air New Zealand, Air Pacific and Qantas. There’s another international airport in the capital city of Suva, but the one in Nadi is cheaper and flights are more frequent. About 90% of all international flights to Fiji come in via Nadi. All flights from the US depart from LA, which means travelers from the East Coast have to take a domestic flight to LA. [Read more…]
