Popular as the bath of Silla Kings, Hur Shim Chung Spa is said to be the biggest hot spring spa in Asia, and can accommodate up to 3000 guests. Located up at the street of Oncheon-jang Subway Stop Line 1, the alkali spring water contains the highest concentration of magnesium in Korea, with temperatures ranging from 45 to 56 degrees Celsius.
Established in October 1991, the spa is part of Hotel Nongshim and covers about 4,300 square meters of urban complex that consists of five storeys and one underground level. Facilities in Hur Shim Chung Spa are complete with 40 functional baths, sauna pools, massages, beauty salon, oxygen rooms, etc. Entering the spa complex, you can find a bakery, a grand fountain and several shops in the first floor. The gaudy Hurshimchung Brahaus is also located on the ground floor, featuring superior brewed German beers such as Pils, Weizen and Dunkel as well as a few Japanese restaurants.
The second floor is the banquet facility, housing large, mid-sized and small banquet halls, and wedding halls. The third level is the hot spring facility and fitness center with plenty of interesting amenities. A massive jimjilbang resting area can be found that is equally spacious. The Aroma Room has a temperature of 18- 21°C, where scent of lavender is sprayed. Hwangto Room Sauna is the largest dome created from Hwangto of Kyunkido Inchon and is known to be effective against skin aging with its ultra ray emissions. The freezing Ice Room is the only room in Busan where you can experience artificial snow regardless of the season.
The unique Hardwood Charcoal Room consists of 600-900°C carbonized wood, which has a purification effect as it blocks electron rays. Last is the Diazine Room, made from the element Diazine known to emanate 10 times the amount of ultrared rays that ordinary Pyrogen does. It is believed to improve blood circulation and skin beauty and lessen corpulence. The fourth and fifth floor is assigned for hot spring bath facilities. You will be welcomed with the ‘grand hot springs’ – a large atrium full of waterfalls and pools with varying temperatures. There are 40 hot spring bath types in the upper floors using different Chinese medicines and other natural materials including Nochuntang, Donggooltang, Moolmaji-tang, Sogum-tang, Saejang-tang and Huimok-tang.
Nochuntang uses nature themes depending on the season such as blue sky, bright sunshine, snow in winter and shower in summer. Donggooltang hot spring area has a tranquil and calm ambiance, with caverns so guests can experience bathing in a cave, relieving mental fatigue while meditating and relaxing. Moolmaji-tang has a waterspout for ultra massage effects, which can accelerate blood circulation and is effective in relieving lumbago and shoulder pains. Sogumtang is ideal for improving the skin with the use of sea salts to soften and sanitize the skin.
On the other hand, Saejang-tang uses nature effects with aromatherapy to relax the body and mind while Huimoktang uses a unique bathtub made from 4000-year-old Korean spindle trees that have a sanitizing effect, stress-relieving and relaxing effects and a mysterious effects in longevity and neuralgia thanks to the unique oils and aroma of the tree. Other rooms use different natural herbs and oils such as cherry, pepper, champagne, lavender, or citrus water.
