The Desert Safari is the most breath taking and thrilling part of the Dubai holiday. A vacation in Dubai isn’t complete without experiencing it. After enjoying the luxury of man-made facilities, 5 star hotels and restaurants, it’s time to follow the camels as they seek calmness in the wild.
Safari expeditions enable tourists to explore another distinct part of Dubai’s contrasting landscape. These expeditions bring tourists into the desert where they can explore life in the dunes. Different tour companies may offer different safari packages, although most of them are with very little dissimilarities when it comes to the package price, features, and policies. The type of safari expedition will also depend on the time of the day, the things the traveler wants to see, and the activities that he wishes to do.
The morning safari begins at 9am. Tourists are usually picked up by an air conditioned 4×4 sports utility vehicle from the place they are staying in. The 4×4 vehicle, usually a land cruiser, then drives off to the desert. Because of possible dangers, vehicles never go to the vast desert alone. The 4×4 cruiser begins its roller coaster ride in the dunes- the highlight of the expedition for the daring souls. The vehicle will traverse narrow ridges; go uphill and downhill, and move in crisscross. Apart from dune bashing, the two hour trip includes camel rides, quad bike runs and sand boarding in the sands of the desert.
The more preferred safari excursion is the evening safari, which usually starts at 4 pm and lasts for up to six hours. Evening safaris usually include dune bashing, serving of Arabian tea or coffee, a visit to the camel farm, camel rides, quad biking, sand boarding, and a barbeque dinner at the safari camp. However, what makes evening excursion really popular is the opportunity to take a glimpse, and a photograph, of the dramatic setting of the sun in the desert. The evening excursion is concluded by smoking a Shisha Arabian water pipe and watching a belly dancing exhibition; after which, the guests are taken back to the metropolis.
However, the most audacious tourists are not satisfied with six hours of action in the desert. Overnight safaris will satisfy their thirst for adventure. Overnight safaris begin at about three in the afternoon and wrap up at nine the following day. The seventeen hour stay in the desert is spent in enthralling sand adventures, energetic dancing, merriment, henna painting, and exotic barbeque in the Bedouin camp. The party packs up after breakfast, and tourists head back to the city with a unique experience that they’ll remember all their life.
Far from the image of the intolerably humid barren lands ingrained in the consciousness of the world in the past, the dunes of Dubai have become a lively paradise for the vivacious souls from all over the world. One cannot simply bid goodbye without having been able to appreciate the wildlife and the scenic dune formations with the sunset as the backdrop. The Dubai Desert Safari has undoubtedly transformed into one of the major tourism contributors in the city.
