Located in a tiny bay with about a mile of curved coastline, Bogmalo Beach is one of the less-crowded beaches in Goa. Despite its close proximity to Dabolim Airport (around 4 kilometers), the beach maintains its tranquility and beauty, especially Bogmalo Village, a fishing village still largely untouched by the tourism industry’s drive towards modernization.
Because it has the perfect mixture of tranquility and commercialism, there are many reasons to visit Bogmalo Beach. Apart from the luxurious Bogmallo Beach Resort, many love to watch the dramatic scenic sunset here. On top of that, you can find impressive islands including Chicalet and Sao Jacinto, which have pretty old cottages and church. Shipwrecks in silt across the islands are also worth a visit.
A prime attraction in Bogmalo, diving is a very popular water sport, with the Goa Institute of Diving drawing plenty of people from different parts of the world. If you plan to dive, contact Goa Diving. For island tours, you may visit Sandy Treat snack shack as their experienced staff operate trips around the islands. Various water sport tools for water skiing and surfing are available here for rent, and several establishments offer details on different sports and excursions in Bogmalo.
Accommodations are never a concern at this beach. Looking around, you will find a decent number of accommodations here, albeit Bogmallo Beach Resort is the most dominant around the beach area. Formerly Oberoi Resort, it is the first 5-star luxury hotel nearest to the Bogmalo beachfront that offers good food and comfortable stay. The resort boasts 15 splendid cottages and 126 guestrooms that are purposely facing the sea. In addition, the hotel is complete with amenities and services including the Ayurveda massage, gymnasium, casino and beauty salon.
Besides Bogmallo Beach Resort, you may also check out Coconut Creek, a small resort found within a coconut plantation, just about ½ kilometer from the beachfront. Run by welcoming staff, the place consists of spacious rooms and a swimming pool. For budget travelers, plenty of guesthouses are available where you can stay and have fun without breaking your wallet.
A large, flat and open beach, you can find multi-cuisine restaurants and several eating joints in the beach area where tourists can sample tasty authentic Goan dishes as well as succulent seafood. Many Kashmiri vendors are seen selling local handicrafts and souvenir items. In spite of the presence of modern eating joints and modern souvenir shops, the sleepy village of Bogmalo doesn’t seem to care and has thus far kept its quaint way of living.
Indeed, only those who love nature, enjoy peaceful country life and explore traditional architecture rather than trance parties and wild nightlife can appreciate Bogmalo Beach. Also, if you find joy in cliff hiking, underwater diving and exploring, perhaps Bogmalo is the perfect place for you.
Bogmalo Beach is well-connected to various modes of transport in Goa. With its ideal location close to Dabolim, you can easily hire a taxi from there. You may also take a bus or taxi from Vasco, which is 8 kilometers away from the beach.
